If you really want to feel the thrill of miraculous presence around you, this is Mangalganj. Located 100 km from Kolkata, it is a small village situated between green and serenity. The fluttering of birds, the gentle breeze of the forest, and the beautiful sound of Ichamati will make you feel connected to nature. It is famous for the old, now besieged palace which is known as ‘Kata Saheb Kuthi’. There are many chapters in the history of ‘Kuthi’ originally built by Maharaja Mangalchandra. It was a ‘blue factory’ during the British rule and so the silent spectators of the brutal oppression of the British forced the locals to just ‘blue’ or paint blue. Then came the Swadeshi movement. The life and death of many freedom fighters were also painted on the walls of this place. But there is more to this place than just the eyes. As the night draws to a close it will feel the presence of an animal that will cool your spine. The rushing bamboo forest, bats and owls certainly cannot make any improvement. And in that darkness, the wind whispered in unknown signs that someone would suddenly appear behind you and all you could feel was the cool breath on your shoulder.
