MURARDIH DAM, MURGUMA DAM, GARPANCHAKOT, MAITHAN (2 Nights/3 Days)
Maithan or Mother’s abode is a beautiful location dotted with lakes and rolling green hills. The rivers Damodar and Barakar flow through Maithon and Maithon Dam is South East Asia’s first underground power station. The extensive reservoir created by the dam is the main attraction of the area with Parasnath Hills, Kalyaneshwari temple and tranquil Nature trails and hiking destinations. Murguma lake in Purulia is an artificial lake created by the dam. It is avery upcoming destination. Garpanchakot is another upcoming destination amidst temple ruins and forests at the northern base of the Panchet Hill in Purulia district.
Distance: 250 kms (approx) from Kolkata by road
Nearest Town: Barakar
Day 1: At 7am, from Howrah to Murardih Dam in Tata Sumo and night stay at ‘Khanika Guest House’, Murardih.
Day 2: After breakfast, we will go Murguma Dam (i.e. surrounding Hill with Jungle / Nature environment) then after lunch, from Murguma Dam to Garpanchakot and start for Maithan, reach at about evening 5pm. Night stay at Maithan tourist lodge.
Day 3: At morning, we go to famous ‘Kalyaneswari Temple ‘, Amarnath Temple’, Deer Park etc. and after lunch, return to Howrah – reach about evening 6pm.
